DESIGN STRATEGY
A work which was self-prompted, I decided to re-design the cover for R&B singer Frank Ocean’s 2012 album Channel Orange. Channel Orange is well-known for its electronic and funky melodies with influences of soul and jazz. In my re-work, I decided the background to be more of a peach orange, while the original is more sharper and bold orange. I also changed the font to a serif, as I thought the original sans serif was too expected and does not accurately emulate the sophistication and emotion of the album's sound. The television on static is the finishing touch, carefully placed off-center and on-line with the album title. I’m quite proud of this piece as it really highlights the skills I’ve developed since becoming an ArtCenter student.
